Jurassic World Release Date Set to Hit June 2015

Jurassic Park 4 has a new name and release date. Universal Pictures announced today that the Jurassic World release date will be June 12, 2015.

This is a big deal because the summer of 2015 already has The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Batman vs. Superman, Independence Day 2, Terminator 5 and Ant-Man hitting theaters, making it the biggest action packed summer I ever remember. Add in Star Wars: Episode VII that winter, and this is a year that should break all box office records.

Or it could be a dismal failure that could put a studio out of business.

While plot details are still sketchy, Jurassic World is being directed by Colin Trevorrow, the man behind the tremendous indie film Safety Not Guaranteed. This will be his biggest film to date, but I have some faith in the guy after his breakout film.

There were plot leaks that said it would take place in an actual theme park, which would make sense given the title, and that it was very successful until the dinosaurs started wrecking havoc. The studio said there had been major revisions since those leaked plot points, but it sounds like the basis of it being a giant dinosaur amusement park might be true.

You figure they would have learned their lesson after the first film.

The Jurassic World release date of June 12, 2015 is also two weeks before Terminator 5 comes out, so they better hope it does gangbusters in those first two weeks.
