We brought you the scoop last week that Marvel offered Bradley Cooper a contract to voice Rocket Raccoon in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Now, word came today that Bradley Cooper is Rocket Raccoon.
Marvel officially confirmed the casting news today and this completes the entire Guardians of the Galaxy team for James Gunn’s Marvel movie debut. Cooper joins Vin Diesel, who will be voicing Groot, as well as Chris Pratt as Star Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer and Zoe Saldana as Gamora.
Also in the movie is Lee Pace as the main antagonist Ronan the Accuser, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Djimon Honsou as Korath the Pursuer and Glenn Close as the leader of the Nova Corps.
I’m not sure how I feel about the Bradley Cooper casting. Now, I think Cooper is a fantastic actor, and he was my favorite at the Oscars this year, but I never pictured him as the voice of the always annoyed and surly Rocket Raccoon.
The again, I never pictured James Spader as Ultron in The Avengers 2 either. Regardless, Bradley Cooper is Rocket Raccoon and the movie rolls on. Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on Aug. 1, 2014.
