As we all know, North America is going to get another shot at Godzilla after completely blowing it with 1998’s attempt. The director, Gareth Edwards, was asked about the possibility of a sequel after we get the Godzilla Begins, and here’s what he had to say:
“With the exception of the 1954 original, I would say my second favorite film is Destroy All Monsters. I just love the idea of a monster island. Having a world with these creatures in it. I find that fascinating and would like to treat that realistically. I wouldn’t want to limit it to one other foe, I think it’s more fun to – this question will come back to haunt me if we ever do a sequel – but I think multiple creatures make better movies in terms of the image of Gojira.”
I think it sounds like a fine idea, personally. The most fun you can have in a Godzilla film is watching him have a tussle with all sorts of creatures, as you can really only watch him destroy buildings for so long. I, however, have 2 questions:
1. Will we see Godzilla dance again?
2. More importantly, will we see Jet Jaguar?
