Comic-Con 2013 Avengers: Age of Ultron Announced

While the biggest news from Comic-Con 2013 was the announcement that Superman and Batman would be meeting on screen in 2015, Marvel tried to match up to that with their own special announcement for their 2015 tent-pole movie. The Marvel Comic-Con 2013 news was that The Avengers will be titled Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Yes, Superman meeting Batman is the bigger news and will make 2015 a year that comic book fans won’t want to miss. However, for Avengers fans, Avengers: Age of Ultron is just as important of an announcement.

No one really knew what was coming for The Avengers 2, but there were hints including the inclusion of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. How Marvel could match the greatness of the first movie was a question. This is the answer. Ultron is easily one of the greatest bad guys in Avengers history.

I do have one very important question. Hank Pym created Ultron, and he isn’t supposed to show up until Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man, which comes out after Avengers: Age of Ultron. Does this mean that Pym will also be in the Avengers movie before getting his solo film a few months later?

This also brings some interesting thoughts about Vin Diesel’s role in the Marvel universe. Diesel said he has signed on, but said the news will come at the end of this month. Well, I have two thoughts about this. First, everyone wants him to be The Vision, which could happen since Ultron created The Vision, only to have the android turn on him and help The Avengers. The second thought is that Diesel could be the voice of Ultron, and maybe mo-cap him as well.

Whatever happens, I am more excited than I was before about this Marvel movie – and that says a lot coming from someone who loved The Avengers as much as I loved The Dark Knight.

Now, the question is how this might tie into the recent Age of Ultron storyline that saw him win and take over the entire world. Pretty sure that won’t happen in this movie (if for no other reason than the fact that Wolverine and The Invisible Woman played a large role in it), but there has to be a reason they named it after that storyline.

There are so many questions, but my excitement is now at an all-time high. Avengers: Age of Ultron. I love Comic-Con.
