See? This is why we can’t have nice things. Some marketing exec sees a kick-ass title like All You Need Is Kill and decides that’s not going to translate to box office dollars, so he changes it to some romantic, slightly sci-fi sounding thing like Stars in the Galaxy. Or Ships to the Stars. Or Edge of Tomorrow. Still, even though we got robbed of a really cool sounding film name, the Comic-Con poster for the new thriller starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt is also kind of kick-ass; check it out below and click to enlarge, should that suit your fancy.

The upcoming science fiction film is directed by Doug Liman (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Bourne Identity) and tells the story of a soldier in the future who is caught in a time travel loop which sees him dying in battle to be resurrected again and again to repeat the same scenario over and over. Upon each regeneration (or respawn, if you’d like to liken it to a video game), his skills sharpen and his heart hardens as he attempts to figure out a way to defeat his enemies and escape the loop. The story comes from the critically acclaimed Japanese light novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Given the above image, seems like we’ll see some more news about this emanating from Comic-Con this weekend.

Edge of Tomorrow is  due out in U.S. theaters on June 6, 2014, will also star Bill Paxton, Charlotte Riley and Jonas Armstrong, and sources tell us it will be better than Oblivion.
