You know how people say, “a movie is only as good as its villain,” well with James Bond, sometimes that applies to the women also.
Most James Bond movies can’t even be discussed without bringing up such names as Pussy Galore or Holly Goodhead. Especially since the names sound as if they came out of a bad 70’s porn movie. The question is, now that Sam Mendes is back in the director’s chair, who will be the new lucky lady to break Bond’s heart?
Yahoo reports that Penelope Cruz is officially on board to play the new leading lady in Bond 24. This will make her the oldest actress to handle a Bond Girl at the respectful age of 40.
An insider close to the production had this to say about her involvement:
‘”The producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now.”
I actuall think this is pretty cool news since her husband Javier Bardem was the villain in Skyfall. I’ve always had a small crush on Penelope myself and glad to see her making some big moves in Hollywood again.
Sam Mendes is expected to return as director for the next Bond movie with no release date as of yet.
