Bryan Fuller hasn’t traveled in steady waters with show-running on television networks. Despite having major critical acclaim with shows like Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies, Fuller has been unable to manage the longevity of his shows. Then came the extremely well executed television reboot of Hannibal. The show has gained a loyal following but not a large enough audience to warrant it safe for renewal. So, it’s not a wonder people had doubts that NBC would order more episodes.

hannibal renewedWell, guess what? They have Hannibal renewed for a 2nd season and I could not be happier. TVLine broke the news saying that NBC ordered a 13 episode season for next year. Downside is that fans might have to wait a bit longer for the 2nd season to hit the air, with NBC not expecting a premiere date before mid-season. Whatever the case,it seems Fuller has finally broke the cycle.

Back when the show premiered I urged everyone to see what they were missing. Fuller’s vision of Thomas Harris’s universe is the most faithful take on the series since Silence of the Lambs. The cinematography, the direction, as well as the performances from Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen, are all rock solid for a show from NBC. I can’t wait to see what Fuller and crew have in store for us next year. Check it out if you haven’t already.
