In a not so surprising turn of events, Universal has officially stopped movement on Jurassic Park 4. Yesterday, Slashfilm got the report saying the film was put on hold due to mixed feelings on the size and scope of the next picture. Several insiders claim that many people have been sent home and nothing from this sequel is expected next year. However, indie director Colin Trevorrow is still attached as director for the fourth film.

Jurassic Park 4 News further reports there is no complications with the script but the studio is demanding an “epic” size fourth film.Whatever the official problem is, do not expect Jurassic Park 4 in 2014.

Here is an official press release  below from Universal Studios:

In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise.  We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise’s storied history.

As much as I hate seeing people losing jobs for another year, I’m extremely relieved that this movie is no longer being rushed. The Summer 2014 release date was entirely unrealistic for a project this size. Especially given that no cast announcements have been reported. Hopefully, the studio and Colin Trevorrow can now take the time to make the best sequel possible.
