The Golden Globes took place on Jan. 7, 2018, and some great movies, TV shows, and actors took home some much-deserved awards. There has been a lot of bad news to hit this year concerning Hollywood, but this was a chance to just honor some great performances and fantastic movies and TV shows. Here is a look at the big winners of the evening.

The big winners in movies were Lady Bird and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Lady Bird won for Best Motion Picture: Comedy or Musical, which makes no sense to me. I have no idea what was comedic about Lady Bird, which was a straight drama that included some humor. Of course, the horror movie Get Out was also nominated, proving the Golden Globes have no idea the difference between comedy and satire. Saoirse Ronan also won for Best Actress.

As I said, I would have moved Ladt Bird to the drama category and given this to Get Out. The entire category was strange, with biopic I, Tonya also nominated.

Three Billboards won Best Motion Picture – Drama. The movie was also the top awarded film, with wins for Frances McDormand (Best Actress), Sam Rockwell (Best Supporting Actor) and Martin McDonagh (Best Screenplay). I approve of all three of those awards, but I feel Lady Bird should have won here.

Gary Oldman won Best Actor for Darkest Hour, and in an enjoyable moment, James Franco won Best Actor in a comedy for his performance in The Disaster Artist. Allison Janey won Best Supporting Actress of I, Tonya and Guillermo del Toro won the Best Director award.
