Anyone who knows me knows that I am a HUGE Stephen King fan. Of course, as a dollar baby filmmaker, that is a given. With that said, I am really excited about the new Under the Dome TV show and recently a new Under the Dome feature popped up online.

I have to say that this feature was a complete mixed bag (of bones?).

For the positives, there were severed limbs, dead bodies and some nice blood, especially for a CBS television series. On the other hand, it was a complete fluff piece with Stephen King promising “riveting television” in his best salesman voice.

I love ya Stephen King, but you just didn’t sell me there. However, there was enough in the Under the Dome feature to intrigue me about the series, and that is what a teaser promo like this is for. Plus, they emphasize the practical effects, which is always a plus.

Brian K. Vaughn (TV’s Lost and the comic book creator of Y: The Last Man) is producing this 13-episode miniseries, which Vaughn said veers from the actual story in the book and will explore what the dome really is. Luckily, they are keeping the focus on the human stories under the dome.

Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) directed the first episode, which airs on June 24 on CBS.

“UNDER THE DOME” is the story of a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The town’s inhabitants must deal with surviving the post-apocalyptic conditions while searching for answers to what this barrier is, where it came from, and if and when it will go away.
