Welcome to Week 1 of the RENEGADE REACTOR, where each week we will count down the Top 10 most anticipated upcoming movies based on the news, rumors and buzz that has circulated throughout the week. This is not the most anticipated movies that will come out two years from now, but the movies that have the best buzz right now.
This is the first week, so the movies are based on the anticipation levels at the moment based on recent buzz, but starting next week, this list will change based on where the movies were on the previous week’s list compared to the buzz surrounding them over the next week. Without any further ado, here we go…
10. Dracula Untold
The origin story of Dracula is coming later this year and IGN just had some great interviews, including one with Dracula himself, Luke Evans. The movie looks and sounds pretty cool and Evans has the look and charisma to make a great Vlad, so the movie deserves to at least start off on the Top 10 list. A good showing at Comic-Con 2014 will be needed to keep it alive in the coming weeks.
9. Inherent Vice
Was there anything new about Inherent Vice? No, but this is P.T. Anderson’s next movie and it hits later this year. Enough said.
There was a brand new trailer for Horns that hit this week. You can see it here on Renegade Cinema and see what the entire story is about. For now, just know the movie is based on the novel by Joe Hill (the son of Stephen King) and is about a guy (Daniel Radcliffe) whose girlfriend is brutally raped and murdered. The town believes he is guilty and it doesn’t help when two horns grow out of his head.
7. Avengers: Age of Ultron
This week, there was some Marvel rumors that Hulk would fight Iron Man’s Hulkbuster Armor. Now, there is some thought Iron Man would fight Hulk, but there is a part of me that thinks that Ultron will be controlling the armor. Whichever it is, there is some expectation that some footage of this will make its way to Comic-Con 2014.
6. The Expandables 3
Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Kelsey Grammar, Harrison Ford, plus all the rest of the former cast members. Come on, it comes out next month. What guy wouldn’t be excited?
5. Star Wars: Episode VII
There is still a lot of buzz about Kevin Smith’s excitement when he visited the set of Star Wars: Episode VII and the anticipation levels are growing higher and higher. There is still fear that the movie won’t be as good as expected with Disney demanding it hit the December 2015 release date, even if that means eliminating most of Han Solo’s scenes. However, that was offset with the excitement of Andy Serkis and the curiosity at who he will play.
I still can’t get the image of Michael Keaton fighting Ed Norton with Norton only wearing his tightie whities out of my head. This movie comes out in October and I can’t wait.
3. The Zero Theorem
Honestly, Terry Gilliam is one of cinema’s greatest treasures. Well, they released a new international trailer this week for The Zero Theroem, his latest movie which finally hits U.S. cinemas this September. The U.K. has had the movie for a year now, and now we get it here in America. Well, that trailer has upped the excitement level as it looks a lot like Brazil in the theme of the movie, and that is a great thing. Check out the trailer here on Renegade Cinema.
2. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
There will be a panel for the Robert Rodriguez movie Sin City: A Dame to Kill For at Comic-Con 2014 and that should be a huge moment for fans of the first movie. There was also a brand new trailer that aired during The Strain series premiere on Sunday night. This movie has a lot to live up to, as the first was fantastic, but the trailers are making it look like it could be a good one. Check out the new trailer below.
1. Guardians of the Galaxy
Renegade Cinema saw the 17-minute Guardians of the Galaxy preview and it kicked some major butt. The movie is going to be amazing and Rocket Raccoon is going to be a huge star. Now, Renegade Cinema has free tickets to give away to the Oklahoma City advanced screening and we can’t wait to watch it with you. Guardians of the Galaxy might change how you look at Marvel movies.
