A new trailer for Terry Gilliam’s next twisted film is online. The Zero Theorem actually hit theaters last year in the U.K. but was slow coming to the United States because distributors here just don’t get brilliant filmmakers like Terry Gilliam. Well, it is finally coming this August in what will likely be a microscopic limited release and we have the new Zero Theorem international trailer for you here.

The Zero Theorem stars Christoph Waltz and Melanie Thierry. From what I can tell, the movie is about a computer hacker (Waltz) who is trying to discover the reason for human existence, only to continuously be interrupted by upper management. That description reminds me a lot of Brazil, and that has me really excited.

The Zero Theorem stars two-time Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained, Inglorious Basterds) as Qohen Leth, an eccentric and reclusive computer genius plagued with existential angst. Living in isolation in a burnt-out church, Qohen is obsessively working on a mysterious project personally delegated to him by Management (Matt Damon) aimed at discovering the meaning of life – or the lack thereof – once and for all. Increasingly disturbed by unwanted visits from people he doesn’t fully trust, including the flirtatious Bainsley (Mélanie Thierry), Management’s wunderkind son Bob (Lucas Hedges), his unpredictable colleague Joby (David Thewlis), and would-be digital therapist Dr. Shrink-Rom (Tilda Swinton), it’s only when he experiences the power of love and desire that he’s able to understand his own reason for being. – The Zero Theorem Official Website
