If you were someone who wanted to like Snow White and the Huntsman, but were less than enthusiastic about the final product, some great news broke today about the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel. Two things have just been announced and that could make this sequel very exciting.

Frank Darabont is in talks to direct the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel and the role that Kristen Stewart will play will be immensely diminished.

First of all, Darabont is one of the best filmmakers working, although his output is few and far between. He directed The Shawshank Redemption, one of the best movies of all time, The Green Mile, one of Stephen King’s better adapted works, and he was the show runner for The Walking Dead.

That makes Darabont a great choice when it comes to actually turning a disappointing movie franchise into something special. That is especially evident when the reason for Darabont winning the battle against Mama director Andy Muschietti and Warrior director Gavin O’Connor was uncovered.

Darabont pitched the idea of making the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel more about The Huntsman with Kristen Stewart’s Snow White playing a minor role, if any at all. That means this movie will be all about Chris Hemsworth’s character and not Stewart’s.

Now, it is important to understand that Frank Darabont has not been offered a contract for the job yet, but he is the front runner. Honestly, the news about Darabont getting the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel job is great enough. Dumping Kristen Stewart is just icing on the cake.
