* There are some spoilers here, but they all come from a Marvel press release.

A lot of people love to hate Marvel Agents of SHIELD. My guess is that they either (a) stopped watching after the first three episodes or (b) expected superhero men in tights action and are disappointed in the fact they got a Joss Whedon television show.

Well, for the people who quit watching after three episodes and still say it sucks, their opinions don’t mean anything because they haven’t watched the show since it found its footing. It’s like a film critic who watches 15 minutes of a film and then turns it off and gives it a bad review.

DeathlokFor the ones who wanted less character development and more slam bam superhero action, Marvel is bringing a super hero/villain to the show in the form of Deathlok and it will be played by someone we already have met.

The character is Mike Peterson, played by J. August Richards. This is pretty exciting for me as a Joss Whedon fan because Richards’ taking part in the show was a big draw for me in the beginning. Before this, Richards played Gunn in Angel, my favorite Joss Whedon created show, and it looks like he will get very cool.

Fans who watch Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD know that Richards was apparently killed in a recent episode, only for a special scene that showed that he was actually abducted by the organization that SHIELD has been looking for most of the season. Now, it looks like that group will turn Richards into Deathlok.

Here is the press release:

Transformed into the cybernetic solider against his will, Mike Peterson (J. August Richards) must struggle to find the man in the machine. With a high-tech eye that allows him to see through walls, super strength and increased speed courtesy of a cybernetic leg, will Deathlok fight alongside the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or against them?
