The Batman vs. Superman rumors just keep on coming.  The latest one to make the rounds is new Denzel Washington Green Lantern casting rumors, bringing John Stewart to the DC movie world.

While Hal Jordan is certainly the best known Green Lantern, John Stewart has certainly gained a following of his own thanks in no small part to the Justice League animated series, and in a way, this actually makes some sense.  Thanks to the abomination that is the Green Lantern movie, many non-comic fans have soured a bit on Hal Jordan and what better way to start over with Green Lantern than by using a different character.  If they indeed decide to go with John Stewart, then Denzel would actually make a pretty solid choice for the part and it wouldn’t exactly be the first time he’s been in an action movie either.

However, I feel this is a perfect time to make a Green Lantern suggestion of my own.  Since this rumor indicates that the producers are being fairly flexible with the character’s age (Denzel is pushing 60 after all) I know feel no guilt with this proposal.  I think they should stick with Hal Jordan and cast Nathan Fillion.  It’s the kind of role that he was not only born to play, but already has plenty of experience with.

Fillion has already voiced him in the DC Animated movies Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Justice League: Doom, and most recently The Flashpoint Paradox and nailed it every time.  The only reason I haven’t been more vocal about this so far was that I figured, at age 42, he was probably a little too old for what Warner Bros. is looking for but since the “Denzel Washington Green Lantern” rumor is now going to circulate, as far as I’m concerned now, all bets are off.

Do you think Green Lantern should be in Batman vs. Superman?  Should they use Hal Jordan or John Stewart?  Who would you want to play them?  Give us your thoughts in the comment section below.
