A few years back, Gonzalo López-Gallego directed a mediocre found footage film titled Apollo 18. That film suffered horribly for reasons I won’t dive into here. Whether it was a studio dilemma or production issues, the film just did not deliver on its clever concept. That said, Gonzalo López-Gallego is back with a new film and I’m ready to give this guy a second chance, and you will too.

His new film Open Grave stars Sharlto Copley from District 9, and showcases footage that raises more questions than answers. What exactly is happening in the advertisement is anyone’s guess. Why is the guy stuck in barbed wire? Is Sharlto Copley a villain or victim? Why is there so many dead bodies?

Here is the Open Grave trailer below!

One of the things I discussed with fellow Renegade Shawn S. Lealos, is the fact this film has risen from out of nowhere. We all knew Copley was involved with the Oldboy remake, and the sci-fi vehicle Elysium. However, Copley seems to be taking on more acting roles than we seem privy to, which is fine by me. I absolutely love this guy and as long as he keeps choosing his roles wisely, I’ll keep watching.

Open Grave hits theaters January 3rd! What do you think of the first glimpse of Open Grave?
