Kevin Feige lets fans know lots of information about the Marvel movies universe, but there are some things he withholds. An example is what movies are actually coming in Marvel Phase 3. See, we know about Ant-Man and have other suspicions, but Feige is not letting us know – even though he said he knows which ones are coming.

Maybe the anticipation is what is the most fun?

I think it’s important, in an ideal world, that we have an additional story on a pre-existing character and then introduce a new character. So next year is The Winter Solider, Guardians…Year after that, Age of Ultron, Ant-Man. That’s a nice rhythm. It might not always be like that. I mean [this year was] Iron Man 3 and The Dark World, so it won’t always be like that necessarily, but that’s certainly something to aim for. So we have additional stories of the existing characters in development and the new ones, all of which you’ve heard before.

The key there is that we have heard all the new ones before. To me, that means that Dr. Strange is one of those new ones. Maybe either Black Panther or Ms. Marvel. As for the pre-existing ones, there will probably be a Thor 3. When talking about Loki showing back up, Feige said:

I don’t think it would be before Thor 3, if there is a Thor 3, and while we certainly have ideas of where we would like that to go, there are no specifics. We have to see how this one does and then go from there.

See, he kind of slipped up there with the Thor 3 statement. I have few doubts that Thor: The Dark World will be big at the box office – at least big as in non-Iron Man and Avengers big – $200-$300 million big.

So, when will Feige finally tell us what is coming in Phase 3?

…specific titles for those dates, we are honing in on them. It probably wouldn’t be earlier than Comic-Con to announce that, but perhaps. It’s a long way away.

About that anticipation…
