Breaking Bad writer George Mastras, who got an Emmy nomination for the Breaking Bad episode Dead Freight, the episode in which Walt and the gang rob a train of methylene, is one of the many seeing success due to the show’s popularity.

He’s adapting Dean Unkefer’s “90 Church: The True Story of the Narcotics Squad from Hell”. The story is about how a small group of agents formed the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, and used unorthodox & violent methods to take down organizations that would have been able to crush them otherwise.

Even though it sounds like Gangster Squad, a picture that just didn’t live up to it’s potential, I have a lot of faith in Mastras’ ability. Hopefully the Hollywood Machine won’t come in and screw up his writing. He’s clearly proven as a top Breaking Bad writer, that he can craft up a hell of a story, and the template on this one gives him a lot to work with.
