Gibson & Banderas Join Expendables 3

The Expendables 3 cast is going strong with a slew of new names. Two of the most recent are Mel Gibson & Antonio Banderas. It’s unsure what role Banderas will be playing, but apparently Gibson will serve as a villain, which I think is an awesome choice. I know he’s more than capable of bringing the goods, and as we saw in Payback, he can do a gritty bad-ass with the best of’em. I hope he’s in good shape, because I’d like to see him tussle with Statham.

Expendables 3 castThis is ¬†Gibson’s second recent outing now as a bad guy in one of these cult action films, following his villainous role in Machete Kills. It also reunites Stallone and Banderas, who co-starred with each other in the action movie Assassins back in ’95. Hell, if you want to tie them all together, Assassins was directed by Richard Donner, who also directed Lethal Weapon, which made Gibson a star.

Along with Gibson & Banderas, other Expendables 3 cast members who have been announced and are new to the franchise are Jackie Chan, Milla Jovovich, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage,¬†and Harrison Ford. Easily the most stacked cast of the trilogy. I can’t f’ning wait.

Expendables 3 is slated for an August 2014 release.
